All of us can think of someone who fits the bill. They might be personal acquaintances, historical figures, or contemporary people who are in the news. In an allegorical novel I wrote over 35 years ago, a character by the name of "Carnicero" (Butcher) was such a spiritless person. His eyes were a sea of black. And though I never gave it much thought as to what would happen to him after he died, I never thought of him (or people like him) as being completely devoid of spirit, albeit a corrupt one. We just assume that such people will get their just reward one way or another.
But in the theory of "spiritless humans" there is not "a just reward" to be had. In fact, there is nothing. It's believed that they simply dissolve from whence they came, leaving no trace and no karma (good, bad, or in-between) to reap in future incarnations. Their end would be like the end of the androids in Blade Runner. They cease to exist on all levels, physical and spiritual.
An interesting theory on spiritless humans can be found at Montalk.com. This theory postulates that there are certain people among us who do not continue in spirit form because they are essentially elemental constructs who lack spirit and who function on ego and all it entails. They are genetically influenced almost to the point of being automatons without the hampering constraints of conscience. Keep in mind that the word "spirit" here is used for what most of us think of as "soul."
Spiritual philosophy is the most difficult to accept on a personal level. Primarily because political and social philosophy hit closer to home, they affect our five senses in one way or another: they influence our 3D world. On the other hand, spiritual thought and theories have to be taken, for the most part, with an ample amount of faith. Having faith in unseen things, be they entities or locations, is hard to swallow for some people, atheists in particular.
Ritual magicians, shamans, etc, who have delved deeply into their craft know without a doubt that spiritual realms exist because they have interfaced with them in various esoteric ways. They have gone beyond faith into knowing. But most people have to rely on faith, that most fragile element of hope, when it comes to spiritual matters.
Though it is argued that these people cease to exist totally as individuals after death, it can't be said that they are flukes without meaning. If they are on Earth interacting with us, then they have been put here for a purpose, like pawns to be used by the Fates in however they see fit. Nothing in the universe happens by accident, regardless of what some knucklehead scientists choose to believe.
The theory of spiritless humans is a brain teaser, and it will probably remain in that cerebral zone until ETs decide to come down and verify or denounce it. If you believe that these beings are as advanced spiritually as some say they are, then I'm sure these galactic travelers will have a lot to say on the matter when and if first contact takes place.
This brings up another interesting thought: what happens to these spiritless folk once Ascension takes place? Assuming that these people exist, logically, they would be phased out entirely as they would be out of their element in the new paradigm. Over the course of human history they have existed at all levels of society, from the derelict wino to the powerful CEO.
There is no doubt in my mind that they are at the top of the financial food chain. But their style of leadership will be terminated once we reach full consciousness. We will see, unequivocally, that these people are not the emperors and empresses decked out in royal finery as we had thought. We will see that they are bare-ass naked and instant anachronisms, who no longer serve whatever spiritual purpose they were put here for.
It is believed that once dead, they eventually end up in a sort of energy pool, a collective of neither positive nor negative output, a state of neutrality, and a true existentialist's dream. This concept is also thought to be the fate of animals. Once gone they lose their individuality and blend back into their collective consciousness. It really isn't a bad place to go back to. After all, they are the clay for future constructs, they simply don't have an individual past of their own, as spirited beings are believed to have.
In some mysterious way, these spiritless people may have been put among us to have a direct influence on how we perform while we are in physical form. They are like rudders that move us emotionally and physically, and ultimately serve as unknowing teachers, regardless of how benign or brutal their actions may be. How we react to them is part of our learning experience, shaping our character and beliefs. Though this can be said with everyone in our life, these people serve a special purpose because they simply don't care what happens to us.
Here is a breakdown of what constitutes spirit filled and spiritless humans, as well as other entities. This is taken from the Montalk theory:
Appendix III: Permutations of Metaphysical Components
To show the necessity of concepts like spirit, body, etheric, and astral, here is a list of how these components combine to form different kinds of entities. As you will see, the difference between these entities cannot be explained with fewer than those components.

body | etheric | astral
Spiritless humans:
